The Fourth Sector?

So is there really a fourth sector? Why is the for-benefit company a different category all to itself? Or is it just business with ethics? Which implies?

A travelogue from a unique international orchestra festival for the young and the not so young held in Cremona in June 2015.

Allin GrayAllin Gray is an arts manager and non-practicing musician with a big interest in intellectual sharing in the cause of a better world. Currently the Executive Director of the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras, Allin is also a board member and Treasurer of the European Orchestra Federation and a board member of the International Music Council. Having worked in the not-for-profit and the not-so-profitable sectors for almost 20 years, Allin is dedicated to helping the work of third sector organisations in getting the best job done for the best price – free if possible.

Allin has always thought that cooperation was better than competition and was simply delighted when he discovered the world of Open Source and Libre software. Here were people, some paid and more unpaid, working and giving away the benefit of their work to the world. Of course, charities and community organisations have always done this but the possibilities just fit with Allin’s interests as well as his ethos. Hence a blog encompassing lots of free stuff, ways of getting things done well cheaply and thoughts about how best to work with the whole world in mind. Allin is looking for interesting projects to get involved in, both paid and unpaid, in order to enhance his impact on the world. Please feel free to contact him with either.
